Getting on the General Election (November) Ballot

There are two basic ways to get on the ballot for a General Election:

  1. Secure the nomination of a major political party in which you are registered (as of 2013, the major political parties in Pennsylvania are the Democrats and the Republicans). Party nominations are typically determined by the results of the Primary Election.
  2. Submit a valid nominating paper if you were not registered in a major political party as of 30 days before the Primary Election.
